I took a subject on conceptual magazine design whilst in Germany where our project was to create ten or more copies of a Fanzine to sell. We were each given a famous person to base our concepts for the zine around. I was given Phil Specktor. After researching him icame across his mugshot for his recent murder trail (he shot his wife.)

I then found many fantastic images of other famous musicians and based the concept of my zine on these mugshot images.

Along with my professor the subject was co-taught by the art-director of Neon Magazine from Munchen - Jonas Natterer

HAWTHORN VILLAGE

‘Hawthorn Village’ is a happy, friendly place where there is a sense of community in a safe environment, with unique and specialist shops. These attributes are the basis of the design.

Hawthorn Village does not only have a lot of heart in terms of its community environment but it is the geographical centre of Hawthorn. This is conveyed with the heart shape integrated with the letter H and also the tag line “the Heart of Hawthorn.”

The use of the heart and shapes of the logotype is also to convey warmth, as its appearance is friendly and inviting. This is to reiterate the friendly message for ‘Hawhtorn Village’ with regular customers and also to be welcoming new customers into this community.

The design is very fresh to bring a clean new look and feel to the strip.

The colour has been chosen to be more inviting than competitors and to stand out and be distinguishable from them.

Over 60% of the shoppers are female, so the logo was targeted to entice women over men without being overly feminine.

As shoppers are of all varied ages, design appeals to all types of consumers, young and old.

This branding will work as it strongly conveys the core values of ‘Hawthorn Village’ whilst standing out against competitors. It is fresh, friendly, unique and inviting, and will attract the large range of demographics that will shop here.

Priority One

I designed the logotype for Priority One Building Services back in 2008.
Since then this insurance repairs company has grown to be working nationally, and has worked to repair damages from the bush fires of King Lake in Victoria to the recent flooding of Queensland and Brisbane.

I never posted images of the booklet that was made to give to clients holding relevant paperwork or promotional material. The feedback from clients about this design has been nothing but positive!

I recently fixed up the kerning of the type and other small issues with the mark because as i have spent more time studying i was noticing the flaws in my original design. (as above)

Take Me - Package Design

'Take Me' is a package design solution for the problem of women forgetting to take the birth control pill.

It is a free standing visual reminder to take the pill every day. Instead of being a flat, boring package it is colourful, feminine and can be easily seen. It also can be easily folded flat to be transported when needed.

Tegan wanted me to design just a simple poster to promote Haydens' song on a compilation CD as part of her uni project;

The first image was chosen to promote Hayden's CD track and this poster was displayed around RMIT University.

Fed Square - Logo Design

We had to choose a 'place' to design a logo for... I chose fed square as i thought it would be a challenge to design a logo for a very popular and well known place. Fed Square already has a great logo and branding image, so creating an good alternative to this was a pretty hard.

I am happy with how my design turned out;

The mark below is my preferred solution for the project. My professor insisted that i use the above mark for the outcome so i listened to his advice and did not continue any further with this design;

Promotional booklet for The Australian Ballet;

work so far -

so i decided after nearly finishing the booklet i decided that i hated it. I like my illustration but the layout as a whole was just looking really drab and not doing the job. With 2 weeks til hand in i decide to start again (well almost) which was a risky move.

6 images of Tegan. Decided to alter my first idea slightly to fit better with the brief. Tegan dreams of going to New York City. She likes all things vintage and retro, along with taking analog photographs. This series depicts these attributes much better than the previous designs.
